Hey, here's an idea for making your religion "stick" and preventing strays... Tell your adherents that anyone who disagrees is the devil, and if you listen to them, they will trick you into going to hell forever.
I was reminded of this tenet while recently dealing with someone who clearly was not interested in hearing any viewpoint that disagreed with their own. There are clearly parts of the country that do not value learning.
