Religion is considered significant enough to merit a tax exemption by the IRS. Also, when this blog was created, the government had started giving funds to religious programs. But many of us have a hard time swallowing any religion. The goal here is to create a federally recognized amalgam that suits the needs of those who may otherwise disdain religion.

This is very enlightening too. Found it in a link to the side of the Carlin clip.
[Following clip to clip to clip, I discovered a lively ongoing YouTube fracas between an evangelizing "Jew for Jesus" named VenomFangX (???) and a host of atheistic attackers who can be even more juvenile than he. For instance, VenomFanngX (2 n's) who posts chopped-up clips of VenomFang's with insulting overdubs. The internet is crazy.]
Anyway: the miracle of Carlin's touch is that he says "religion is bullshit", but in such a way that people laugh rather than start trying to argue with him.
